Gang King summary: Jimmy (Katsuya Oonishi), the protagonist of the story, is an art student at Rose-Cross Academy, also known as Bara-Gaku. When he was young, he almost drowned but was saved by a tattoo artist. From that moment on, he strove to become a tattoo artist himself, as tattoos symbolized heroism in his eyes. While Jimmy is inherently good-natured, his association with troublemakers has earned him a reputation as a delinquent. His partner-in-crime, Banko, is an astute youth who peddles information about popular girls in the area, such as phone numbers, preferences, and dislikes. Despite his rough exterior, Banko displays intelligence and a vast knowledge of various subjects. Throughout the course of the story, Jimmy and Banko encounter new faces and establish a gang of their own. Along the way, they come into conflict with rival gangs from different schools and districts. This manga differs from your typical high school slice-of-life story; it has a darker edge, depicting delinquents navigating high school life and engaging in gang warfare. The one-shot included in this volume is Smile (with Nagata Kouichi).
